ROSEMARY BROCK BAILEY
Age 82, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 2, 2018. She was born to Fredrick Adolf Brock and Clara Karlen Brock on February 1, 1935 in Dallas, TX. Rosemary graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952 and from Southern Methodist University in 1956 with a degree in education and a teaching credential.
Rosemary came to Riverside in 1956 and began teaching at Madison Elementary School and later taught at Alcott Elementary School. In 1957, she married John Grigsby. They had four children, Connie, Brock, Sarah and Chris. In 1971, she entered into a second marriage with William R. Bailey Jr. and they had a son, William R. Bailey III.
Rosemary had the gift of hospitality and loved entertaining for her family, friends and neighbors. She had an open door policy on Drummond Street.
Rosemary especially loved spending time with her grandchildren – cooking for them and playing cards. She also enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and home decorating projects.
Rosemary and Bill traveled both inside and outside the U.S. They took trips as a couple but also enjoyed traveling with their children to Newport Beach and Chinquapin or with friends to Alaska and Europe. Fly-fishing trips to Montana and hiking through Tuscany were some of her favorites.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Brock Moore; her first husband, John Grigsby, and her best friend, Judy Borden. She is survived by her husband, retired Judge William R. Bailey Jr.; sister Georgia Alling; children Connie (Art) Lindsley, Brock (Maren) Grigsby, Sarah (Scott) Westphal, Chris (Kristen) Grigsby, Rusty (Judy) Bailey; and twelve grandchildren, Trey and Jon Lindsley, Fritz, Cody, Logan and Leif Grigsby, Hailey and Charlie Westphal, Elizabeth and Julia Bailey, and Reagan and Matthew Grigsby.
A celebration of life will be held on January 12, 2018 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4495 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA at 2:00pm with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Bailey's name to Riverside Meals on Wheels, Inc. at 4845 Brockton Ave, Riverside, CA 92506 or the City of Riverside Purple Cities Alliance, Riverside City Hall, 7th Floor, c/o Mayor's Office, 3900 Main Street, Riverside, CA 92501.
