Roxanna "Roxie" Alcaraz

1951 - 2018 Obituary Condolences

An exceptional human, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, scholar, teacher, friend… Roxie Alcaraz peacefully joined the Lord on January 31, 2018. After 66 years on this earth she has begun a reunion above the clouds with dear family and friends, which no doubt includes dancing. Roxie was the second youngest of 10 siblings born to Col. Ralph M. and Martha J. Wright (deceased). An Air Force brat, Roxie first brightened the world in Omaha, Nebraska, then lived in Arizona, Italy and Florida as a young girl before spending the rest of her years in Riverside, California. Roxie was a product of local schools, ultimately earning her Master's degree in psychology before going on to become a researcher and college instructor. Her career was spent at Cal State University San Bernardino, UC Riverside, and Riverside Community College. More so than her scholarly success, Roxie's greatest pride was with regard to her family. Traditional Wright celebrations, get togethers with dear friends, and doting over her grandchildren brought her heartfelt joy. Sports were another love of Roxie's. The only teams she was a bigger fan of than her Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers, were her grandsons' Little League baseball teams.
Over two years ago, with the courage and determination she is known for, Roxie embarked on the fight of her life. She is now free of the disease and devastating after effects that imprisoned her. Her beautiful wings are spread and she is perched up high with the best view of her favorite things and people. Her spirit is carried on by her daughter Anna Loza (Tom); son David Alcaraz; grandchildren Michael and Diego Loza; siblings Susie Johnson, Carol Wientge (Jack), George Wright, Jane Ralston, Steve Wright, Kathy Wright (Dwight), Lynda Anderson (Ron), and Tracy Panousieris (Eddie).
In honor of Roxie's beautiful life, a viewing will be held at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary on Sunday, February 11 between 5pm and 8pm. A memorial celebration will be held at the same location at 10:00am on Monday, February 12, followed by a graveside service at Olivewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Col. Ralph M. Wright or Martha J. Wright Endowed Scholarship funds at Riverside Community College District Foundation.
