Staff Sergeant Roy Unger Obituary
STAFF SERGEANT ROY UNGER Staff Sergeant Roy Unger, of Riverside, CA, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015. He was the lone survivor from a family of eleven siblings. He was born to Peter and Quimire Unger on February 16, 1925. His loving wife of 55 years, Annie Pearl Unger, and a daughter Linda Ann Unger preceded Roy in death. Roy enlisted in the Army at age sixteen and went on to serve twenty years in the United States Air Force. He received several medals and citations including the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Ribbon. He is survived by two sons Kurt Unger of Riverside, CA, and Charles Unger of San Francisco, CA; two daughters Sandra Unger of Sacramento, CA and Jacqueline Anderson of Pasadena, CA; as well as six grand-daughters, two grandsons, eight great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews around the world. The family wishes to thank everyone who came by with a salutation or a hug or just to sit and listen. Your kind words and deeds are greatly appreciated. Services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, 10:00AM at Preston and Simons Mortuary, 3358 Mission Inn Ave., Riverside, Ca 92501, followed by a graveside service at 2pm at the Riverside National Cemetery.
