Roy V. Jutzy M.D. Obituary

Roy Jutzy was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on May 4, 1924 and died January 4, 2018 at his home in Loma Linda, CA. He is survived by his 5 children (Ron, Carol Veitenheimer, Ken, Jay and Tom), their spouses, 14 grandchildren and spouses, and 21 great-grandchildren. His wife Betty preceded him in death in 2013 after 68 years of marriage.
He attended Walla Walla College, interrupted by service in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He graduated from college in 1947 and the College of Medical Evangelists (now Loma Linda University) with an MD in 1952. He practiced for 2 years in rural Washington and 4 years in Manila, Philippines. After additional training in cardiology, he moved to Loma Linda in 1963 and practiced in the Cardiology Division at Loma Linda University until his retirement in 1999. During his career he served at different times as Chief of Cardiology and Chair of the Department of Medicine as well as involvement in multiple medical organizations and committees. He was committed to international medical service and helped in establishing cardiology services in Greece, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, China, USSR, and Rwanda.
He was devoted to his family and dearly loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service is scheduled for January 27, 2018 at 6:00 PM at the Loma Linda University Church.
