Ruby Pico Obituary
RUBY PICO Ruby Pico, 86, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at her home in Ft. Mohave, AZ. Ruby was born Ruby Castleberry on October 29, 1926 the first of identical twins born minutes apart to John and Ethel Mae Cochran Castleberry in Monroe, Georgia. Ruby had a long and successful career in the retail business. She and her husband Al opened Pico's Sporting Goods in Lompoc, California in 1966, later expanding, opening and helping to open several other businesses including Pico's Western Store, Gun Shop, Trophy Shop, Bicycle Shop and Sporting Goods stores in Grover City, Ca., Arroyo Grande, Ca. and Pismo Beach, Ca. She eventually sold the last of her businesses in the latter part of the 1980's to retire. In retirement she managed to continue to do what she loved best, riding horses, making porcelain dolls, volunteering at the local hospital and being with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Ruby is survived by her identical twin sister and best friend Ruth Jones, brother Dan, sister June, children, Jim Anderson, David Pico, Teresa Oldread and Bud Pico, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Poff, sister Juanita and brother Ben. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Pierce Brothers Crest Lawn Memorial Park, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA. 92505, 951-689-1441.
