Russell Clyde Beatty Obituary
RUSSELL CLYDE BEATTY passed away in Roseville, California on January 1, 2016, from complications of pneumonia at age 85. Russell was born in 1930 in Thermal, CA and grew up in Riverside where he excelled in tennis and as a musician. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and retired after serving 23 years, finishing the last ten years as a member of the Air Force Academy Band in Colorado Springs, CO. Russell was a virtuoso on both clarinet and saxophone, and continued to play after relocating to Fair Oaks, CA in 1974. He was a music educator for ten years with the San Juan Unified School District, and was featured for years on sax and clarinet in several local bands and at the Dixieland Jazz Jubilee. Russell is survived by his wife of 63 years, Delois; son Colonel David Beatty (Ret.) and wife Linda; son Greg Beatty and wife Jeannie; daughter Janice Walukones and husband Allan; and three grandchildren Ian Walukones, Leah Walukones and Christopher Beatty. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacramento Valley Band Assoc.
