Russell Eugene "Russ" Sharp Sr. Obituary
RUSSELL EUGENE SHARP SR. (Russ) Russ passed away peacefully at his home in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the age of 95 due to heart failure. His son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren were with him that day. Russ was born in Oxford, Indiana on July 4, 1917 to Forrest Cecil and Hilda Elizabeth Sharp. His wife Beatrice Emma (Bee) and five brothers (Lewis, Dale, Stanley, William, and Kenneth) preceded him in death. Russ grew up in Bloomington, CA where he attended grade school and Colton Union High School (1936). Russ and Bee were married on September 22, 1940, and celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2010. They lived for 57 years in Bloomington before moving to Rancho Cucamonga in 2003. Following his U. S. Navy service in the Pacific during WWII, Russ worked in the lumber and construction industries, and as a City of Fontana building inspector. With Bee they attended the First Baptist Church in Riverside where they made many lasting friendships. Russ is survived by son Russell E. Sharp Jr. (and Susan of Upland, CA), and daughter Kathleen Wilson (and Kenneth of Altadena, CA), grandchildren Lisa Amador, Eric Wilson (Veroushka), Deborah and Julie Drayton, Christopher Sharp, and great-grandchildren Miles and Nathan Amador, Evan and Madelyn Wilson, and Alexandra Hough, and his brother Robert. A ceremony is planned at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project is suggested. Russ loved life and people, loved fixing and repairing almost anything, loved the outdoors, and loved traveling with Bee. His life will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and to God.
