Dr. Ruth JoAnn Koch Obituary
In honor of DR. RUTH JOANN KOCH, who passed away October 31, 2015. We are all so very saddened by the loss of our dear Aunt Ruthie. To those of you who didn't know Ruth (Dr. Koch) she was an amazing OB/GYN here in Riverside, CA. I know all of her patients felt a loss when she closed the doors to her practice. We adopted Ruthie into our family 18 years ago after she delivered my son and her quick decision making saved my life. Since then she celebrated every holiday, birthday, and everyday occasions with our family, "as our family." She would come over sometimes on a nightly basis for dinner or just to simply hang out waiting to be called by the hospital for a delivery. We could be out to lunch, dinner, a movie, wherever and people would act as if she was a celebrity. They would come up to her and ask if she remembered them and had to introduce their child she helped bring into this world. She was just that kind of Dr. and person. She made you feel special and loved. Her smile and laughter was contagious. A beautiful story during her internship at Loma Linda was told to me by her attending physician and mentor. I had the honors of having him deliver my now three year old daughter who carries on Ruth's name. I asked him if he remembered Ruth and his response was beautiful. He said he will never forget her because during a rotation on Christmas and it was quiet, everyone was getting sleepy, and missing their families. Ruth saw a piano in the hospital, sat down and started playing and singing Carols. She brought such joy to everyone with just one sweet gesture. That was the type of lady and Dr. she was. Let me tell you she could sing! That was just one of her many talents. She would come over to our house and sing for hours on the karaoke in our night club. Her signature song was Fever, by Peggy Lee along with I love Rock 'N' Roll, by Joan Jett. Another song dear to us is I honestly love you by, Olivia Newton John. Every time she sang it I would say "I love you Ruthie" and her reply was " I love you too, Tiffy." So, I love you Ruthie! It is moments like that our family will forever miss. I wanted everyone to know how wonderful and special Ruth was to our family. She was blood to us as far as we're concerned. Ruthie, we will cherish you forever and know that you are as loved as much as you loved us. Forever in our hearts! Love, Victoria Wallace, Tiffany, Jade, Zane and your precious Bella Victoria "Ruth", The Hall family, The Spoon family, The Lopez family, The Davis family, The Adey family and The Stanford family. Forever your family Ruthie, We will miss you always!
