SARAH MAUDE CLARY peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the age of 91 in Coalinga, California. She was born on February 17, 1923, near Macon, Georgia, the seventh of eight children to William and Caroline Henley. Sarah came to California with her family in 1935 during the Depression and settled in Coalinga where she graduated from Coalinga High School in 1941. Later in 1941, the day following the attack on Pearl Harbor, she met James (Dee) Clary while visiting her brother in Blythe, California. They were married March 25, 1942. Following the war, they settled in the San Jacinto Valley Area of Southern California where they raised four children. For close to 20 years, they co-owned and operated Walt and Dee's Meat Market within Welty's Grocery Store in San Jacinto. She also worked several years for the Hemet News/San Jacinto Valley Register where she served as Office Manager and wrote a human interest column. Sarah was active in the community, as she achieved Life Membership for 25 years of service in the Ramona Pageant. She served on the Job's Daughters Council, was a past President of Community Builders Organization, and attended the Hemet Southern Baptist Church. Sarah and Dee could always be found at the Hemet High School baseball games supporting their son David. In 1990, following their retirement, Sarah and Dee moved to Coalinga where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1992. Sarah's greatest happiness was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Karen Krocshel and her husband Clark of Arizona, Barbara Morris of Coalinga; sons David Clary and his wife Adell English of Riverside, Bob Clary and his wife Cathy of Hemet; grandchildren Don Nelson, Daniel Nelson, John Nelson, Michael Clary, DeeAnn Ruiz, Jamie Julian, Timothy Smith, and Paul Morris; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband James Clary; brothers Albert Henley, James Henley, Douglas Henley, and Howard Henley; and sisters Anna Daulton Wheless, Dorothy Gaston, and Agnes Bement. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at the First Southern Baptist Church, 297 Washington Street, Coalinga, CA 93210. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Coalinga First Southern Baptist Church Roofing Fund.
