Scott Owen Arnold Obituary
SCOTT OWEN ARNOLD Scott Owen Arnold went home to be with the Lord June 3, 2013. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Scott was born August 19, 1954 in Rapid City, SD, to Monroe and Mildred (Wilson) Arnold. The Arnold family moved to Orange County, CA in 1964. After graduating from Kennedy High School, Scott married Karen Netland; they had one daughter, Kimberlee Arnold. In 1996 Scott married Cherry DeBerry. After spending years in the construction business, Scott returned to college, graduating from California State Polytechnic University Pomona, Summa Cum Laude in 2002. He joined the Riverside County Planning Department right after graduation and continued to work until his retirement in the fall of 2012. Scott loved his family, his friends, his work, golfing and spending time with his family; and foremost he loved Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He was active in his church, Living Truth Christian Fellowship, as an elder. He loved music of all genres and would be heard humming or singing at almost any time of the day. Scott loved people, loved being with them and serving. He had an infectious smile and twinkling eyes and always had time for everyone. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed because he cared and loved others so deeply. Scott was diagnosed with brain cancer the summer of 2011. He fought diligently for over two years, never giving up hope, but never worried because he knew where he would be going when he left this world. Scott and his wife, Cherry, moved to their home in North Carolina in February 2013. Their dream was to retire there. Scott is survived by his wife, Cherry Arnold; daughters, Kim and husband Steven Setlak, of Chino Hills, CA and Stephanie Simmons, of Norco, CA; son, Shane Simmons of Flat Rock, NC; granddaughters, Kathlena Hope Gagnon (San Francisco, CA), Kari Setlak (Chino Hills, CA) and Jaysa Orr (Norco, CA); grandsons, Landon Orr (Norco, CA), Tedy Setlak (Chino Hills, CA) and Dakota Simmons (Platte City, MO); brothers, Terry (Christine) Arnold (Santee, CA) and Kelly (Mary) Arnold (San Bernardino, CA); sisters, Norene (Mike) Black (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) and Lori Jackson (Cantonment, FL); Aunts Dolores Wilson and Mary Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by both his parents, Monroe Arnold (2013) and Mildred Radeleff (2008). Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Living Truth Christian Fellowship, 1114 W. Ontario Ave., Corona, CA. A time for fellowship and sharing will immediately follow at the Norco Farm, 3475 Hillside Ave., Norco, CA.
