Sevriano Antonio (Tony) Castro Obituary
SEVRIANO ANTONIO (TONY) CASTRO passed away peacefully at age 91 on February 14, 2015 at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, CA. He was a loving husband to his childhood sweetheart, Dora and doting father to three daughters. Tony was a long time resident of Casa Blanca. He was respected and well known throughout the community and served as a pallbearer at Medal of Honor recipient Ysmael Villegas' funeral. His time in the Army Air Corp during World War II led to 35 years of Civil Service work in quality control. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling adventures with his family and friends, attending bowling tournaments with Dora, and visiting the casinos. Tony recently discovered his Native American heritage and was recognized as an Elder of the Juaneno Tribe of Mission Indians in San Juan Capistrano. Tony was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Dora Torres Castro and his oldest daughter, Arlene Castro Rodriguez. He is survived by his two daughters, Cathy Castro Thornby and Antoniette (Toni) Castro Crockett; five granddaughters, Tina Rodriguez Brizuela, Michelle Rodriguez Plavajka, Shanna Thornby Gustafsson, and Lacy and Cori Crockett; and a great granddaughter, Brianna Brizuela. Tony was deeply loved and cherished by his family and friends and he will be sorely missed. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, March 2, 2015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm; Rosary 6:00pm, both at Garden of Prayer, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504. Services will be held at St. Anthony Church at 3074 Madison Ave, Riverside, CA 92504 at 10:00am on March 3, 2015 with interment scheduled immediately following at Olivewood Cemetery, 3300 Central Ave, Riverside, CA 92506.
