Shirley Mae (Stoike) Kendrick Obituary
SHIRLEY MAE (STOIKE) KENDRICK Shirley passed away in Hemet, CA on January 13, 2016 at the age of 88 years. An only child, she was born in Bell, California on April 24, 1927 to Walter Stoike and Hazel Tagney. As a teenager, she worked as an usher in her parent's theater in Placentia. After they moved to Riverside, she worked with her parents at their donut shop, Rubidoux Donut Kitchen on Mission Blvd. She married her soul mate, James (Gene) Kendrick, on Oct. 5, 1946. They lived in the Glen Avon area over 54 years. She was a homemaker most of her life. When times were tight, she worked at Rouse's Department Store as an elevator operator, gift wrapper, and assistant manager. As a homemaker, she fed anyone who showed up at the house. Many hours were spent around the kitchen table telling stories and sharing great food. The neighborhood kids considered her house a second home. She enjoyed and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her two sons, Richard (Kathy) Kendrick of Hemet and Charles (Susan) Kendrick of Riverside; grandchildren: Steven Kendrick of Hemet, Laura (Sam) Desopo of Temecula, Christopher (Sara) Kendrick of Puyallup, WA, and Shannon Kendrick of Riverside; and great-grandchildren: Sammy Desopo and Matthew Desopo. Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 21st from 5-9 p.m. Green Acres Memorial Park, 11715 Cedar Avenue Bloomington, CA. Service will be held on Friday, January 22nd, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres.
