Dr.  Stanley L. Channon Obituary
DR. STANLEY L. CHANNON Dr. Stanley L. Channon passed peacefully, with family at his side, on November 9, 2013 in Pleasanton, Ca., at the age of 89. A native of Australia, Stan moved to the USA to pursue a Ph.D in Metallurgical Engineering from the Univ. of Illinois where he met and married Elizabeth in 1949. They settled in Riverside where they raised 3 children. After 40 years, Stan designed their retirement home in Valley Springs, Ca where they lived for 15 years. Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth "Beth"; devoted children John Channon (Lynnette), Nancy Wiest (Kelly), Bryan Channon (Thelma), and grandchildren; Alivia, Christina, Kyle, Marcy, and Kevin as well as relations in Australia. His gentle spirit, determination, and strength of character inspired his entire family. He leaves many fond memories of golf, boating, water skiing, gardening, camping, travel, and music; all passions he shared with his family and friends. His professional career included management, research and development in materials science with Hunter Engineering, Rohr Aircraft, Aerospace Corp., and Institute for Defense Analysis. Stanley devoted 55 yrs to the Masons, earning the respect of members with his ultimate election to the dignified role as Grand Master of California and Hawaii in 1988. He served as Master of Evergreen Lodge in 1965, Inspector for 12 years, and chaired numerous committees resulting in floats in the Rose Parade for 9 years and new/remodeled senior housing at the Masonic Homes. Memorial Services will be held at Evergreen Masonic Center, 5801 Chicago Ave, Riverside on December 15 at 2 PM. Condolences may be sent c/o The Parkview, 100 Valley Ave. #114, Pleasanton, Ca. 94566.
