STEPHEN J. AMICONE
July 31, 1929 - January 7, 2018

Stephen Joseph Amicone, of Riverside, CA, passed away on January 7, 2018, in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 88. Steve was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Nicola and Lucia Amicone. He was the eldest of two boys. Steve and Joanne Amicone moved to Riverside, CA in 1958. Steve remained in the Riverside area for 59 years, until he and his second wife, Pat Amicone, moved to Texas in 2017. Steve served his country, with honor, in the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean War. He retired from Rockwell International, after working as a cost analyst on various defense contracts, including the Apollo Missions and the Space Shuttle Program. Steve was inducted into the Riverside Sports Hall of Fame for his many years of coaching the young men and women of Riverside. Among his vast involvement in various sports programs, Steve coached football at Arlington High School, Ramona High School, Canyon Springs High School, Chaffee College, and Notre Dame High School. He also coached girl's softball at Notre Dame and Riverside Park and Rec. Steve was a devout Catholic, and was very active in church functions at St. Thomas, St. Catherine's and St. Francis. He was one of the co-founders of the Catholic Athletic League in Riverside. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Frank; and his son, Paul. He is survived by his wife, Pat; his daughters: Stephanie Jeffries, Michele Amicone, Roberta Clark, and Susan Amicone; and his step-children, Vanessa Buchthal, Jeri Vogel, Larry Bibles and Jim Bibles. Steve is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 as follows: Rosary: 9:00 a.m. and Mass: 9:30 a.m. @ St. Francis De Sales Church, 4268 Lime St., Riverside. Interment: 12:00 p.m. @ Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area #1. Reception to follow at the home of Michele Amicone and Michele Levine, 6154 Appian Way, Riverside, CA 92506. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution, in Steve's name, to the Cancer Research Institute. Donations can be made online @ cancerresearch.org
