STEVEN ANTHONY HERRERA
Steven was born on March 8, 1982 at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, California to a single mother. Steven's arrival was a complete surprise to his entire family, since his mother had kept her pregnancy a secret until she returned home from the hospital with Steven. As a child, Steven's brilliance exceeded expectations and many doors were opened, but due to family circumstances he was unable to pursue them. As a young man in high school he knew that many financial responsibilities now rested on his shoulders and he struggled to juggle both school and work. A few years after graduating Polytech High School in Riverside California, Steven continued his schooling by attending Riverside Community College and working full time to help support his mother. It was in 2002 that Steven met Jennifer Gemmell, it was love at first sight for both of them, and since then, the couple shared every available moment with one another, they were inseparable. On September 21, 2006, after 4 years of dating, Steven and Jennifer married. A year after celebrating their nuptials the Herrera's welcomed their first daughter, Destiny Angel Herrera. From the moment he held his daughter, Steven never missed a moment and was a magnificent father. In 2011 the couple welcomed their second daughter Gracie Nevaeh Herrera and their family was now complete. It was extremely common that after a long day Steven would be coaching Destiny's basketball team at the school attended by both daughters, helping out in Sabbath School on weekends, taking his girls to the park or swimming and there were the occasional daddy daughter dates. Steven's additional hobbies included ( but were not limited to) boxing, UFC, working out, the 49ers, the Dodgers, Superman, learning new things and loving God. Steven was an extraordinary father and wonderful husband, spending as much time as possible with his girls and his wife. In the days before his passing Steven told his daughters, " Remember, I love God first, Mommy second, and you girls third".
Steven was employed as a Logistics Supervisor.
Steven passed away suddenly on August 10, 2017, at the family's residence in Redlands, CA at only 35 years of age, leaving behind his grieving wife of 11 years, children, family, friends, church family, MGA and community. Services were held at the family's church, CrossWalk in Redlands, CA on August 18, 2017, where Steven's relationship with God strengthened, every Sabbath.
Although Steven is no longer with us we know that through God's grace He has our destiny. He is sorely missed.
