Sybill M. Wright Obituary
SYBIL M. WRIGHT, 88, passed away in Hemet, CA, on Monday, January 18, 2016. She was born in Alhambra, CA, on April 13, 1927 to Joseph C. and Aileen G. McKee. She moved to the Hemet Valley as a child and attended schools here, graduating from Hemet High School in 1945. She met her husband, Harry E. Wright, while working at Citizens National Bank, and they were married in June, 1949. She retired to be a homemaker and raise their 3 children. She is survived by her children, Tom Wright of El Segundo, Doug Wright of Sedona, Arizona and Judy W. Vincent of Salem, Oregon. She also has 3 grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua and Kendall, and two great-grandchildren: Blaze and Kieran. Sybil loved reading, sewing and gardening, turning her backyard into a wildflower meadow long before drought-tolerant gardening was fashionable. She enjoyed hiking and understood the importance of wild spaces in rejuvenating the spirit. She sewed clothing, quilts and stuffed toys for her family and for sale. With her late husband she was a longtime fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Sybil and Harry were very active for years in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. She used her skill as a seamstress in St. Martha's Guild, producing stuffed toys and helping run craft sales that raised money for the parish. She also ran the gift shop at the church. She regularly volunteered with other parishioners planting flowers and shrubs, beautifying the grounds. Sybil will be missed by both family and friends for her energy, cheerfulness and creativity. In lieu of flowers a donation may be given to The Nature Conservancy, The National Wildlife Federation or any other organization that helps preserve and encourage the careful use of the wild spaces of America and the world.
