Sylvester Barnes Obituary
SYLVESTER BARNES Our loved one, Sylvester Barnes, passed on to glory on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the age of 82. A resident of Corona for the last 40 years, Sylvester spent most of his early life in Baltimore, Maryland and migrated to California in 1967 to make a better life for his family. He accomplished his goal. For 25 years he supervised the painting of airplanes at Continental Airlines and retired in 1995. He stayed active in his retirement pursuing his life-long interest in electronics, building and flying model airplanes, constructing LED boxes, and staying current in the rapidly changing computer technology, even building his own computers. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and passing along his hard-earned wisdom. Sylvester served in the army as a corporal in the 485th Engineers stationed in Regensburg, Germany from 1953 -1955. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Barnes, and son, Kenneth Barnes. Surviving family include four daughters, Pamela Ogletree (Charles), Anastasia Burson (Galen), Lisa Ramos, and Trudy Burson (Mathew); a son, Vernon Barnes; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; five sisters; one brother; and many extended family and friends. Services will be held on Thursday, January 28th at Thomas Miller Mortuary, 1118 E. 6th St, Corona. Viewing at 11am, service at 12 pm, followed by interment at Riverside National Cemetery.
