TERRY ALLAN BOURNE Surrounded by his family, Terry Allan Bourne passed away peacefully on August 14, 2014 at the age of 69. Terry was born on March 3, 1945 in San Diego, California. For the first 21 years of his life he lived in Linda Vista with his loving parents Rex and Marie and his sisters Marcia and Chris. He loved going to the beach, exploring the canyons, playing baseball and football, and being with his friends. He was a 1963 graduate of Kearny High School. Afterwards he attended San Diego State where Terry became a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. His college days were put on hold in 1967 when Terry was drafted into the US Army. He became an infantryman spending one year in Vietnam. He served his country honorably and after two years was discharged, returned to San Diego, and resumed his college education. His family, friends, and fraternity brothers welcomed him home with support and love. Not long after his return, Terry was set up on a blind date with a college girl named Liz. They were happily together for the next 45 years. Terry received his degree in Social Science in 1971, his teaching credential in 1972, and his Master's Degree in Education in 1980. For ten years he worked as a middle school teacher in the Poway Unified School District. In 1982 he became a yearbook rep for Jostens, and the family moved to Riverside. After a successful 20 years with Jostens, Terry returned to teaching. He spent the next ten years with Riverside Unified teaching middle school at the EOC. A move was made to Calimesa in 2007 followed by Terry's retirement in 2010. Time was then spent traveling and having lots of fun! Along with his family, working out, vacationing in Lake Tahoe, and playing golf with friends were Terry's biggest passions. He also loved his San Diego Chargers and for over 20 years was a loyal, and always hopeful, season ticketholder. Terry is survived by Liz, his wife of 43 years; his son Casey of Riverside; his daughter Kelli of Laguna Niguel; and his son Kevin and daughter-in-law Valerie of San Tan Valley, Arizona. He is also survived by his sisters, Marcia Slusher of Ramona and Chris Waters (Tom) of San Diego; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Terry will always be remembered for his love of family and friends, his love of life, and his wonderful smile. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, at 11 a.m. at the Linda Vista Presbyterian Church located at 2130 Ulric St., San Diego 92111. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Mission Valley.
