Thomas Lyons Obituary
THOMAS LYONS Thomas passed away on December 27, 2012. He was 70 years old. He was born at Soboba Indian Hospital on April 4, 1942 to Amy & William Lyons. He grew up on the Morongo Indian Reservation and lived there his whole life. Thomas attended Banning Schools and was active in many areas. He worked as a mailman for 34 years. He coached Banning Little League for 12 years and was very proud of his winning Red Sox team. He served on the Banning Unified School District school personnel board for 25 years. He was also on the California Indian Manpower Consortium board for 28 years. He served as Tribal Chairman for 2 terms and on the Tribal Council for 2 terms. He enjoyed playing ball, golfing and bowling. Thomas was devoted to his family. He leaves a wife, Sharon; children, Lorelei (Robbie) Thomas, Jr. and Gary. He was also a proud grandfather to Amy (David), Ray (Leticia), John (Joleen), Angelica, Gary Jr., Sherrie, Gabreial (Courtney) and Josh Pimental. He also leaves 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Ronald, Donald and Maurice; two sisters, Helen and Anita Soza. He is preceded in death by brothers, William John, Albert (George) and sister, Annie Lyons. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2012, from 4p.m.-7p.m. at Wiefels & Son Memorial Chapel, Banning, CA. Graveside Services will take place on Friday, January 4, 2012 at 10am at the Tribal Cemetery, Morongo Reservation, Banning, CA.
