Thomas Wayne Dudgeon Obituary
THOMAS WAYNE DUDGEON, 67, died in his home on September 3, 2015 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Thomas was born March 11, 1948 in Britt, Iowa, to Wayne and Gloria Dudgeon. Tom was the older brother in a family of 7 girls and 2 boys. As a boy, he loved music and sports and played football, baseball and competed in wrestling. After attending a year of college, he served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 where he was stationed in Germany. Tom moved to southern California as a newlywed in the mid-1970s. He raised his two daughters, Michelle Lynn Wingo and Jennifer Lea Stephens (Rick), in Riverside where they are now raising their families. When the girls were growing up, Tom coached soccer and enjoyed playing church league softball. Tom was known for his giving spirit; he volunteered for many organizations, including Wesley United Methodist Church and Inland Harvest. He was a member of the Crossroaders Christian Camping Club. He enjoyed sports, camping, taking pictures and working at his church. His special joy was spending time with family, being Dad to Michelle and Jennifer, and Grandpa to Jasmine, Victoria, Saige and Sienna. Tom will be dearly missed by his best friend and long-time partner, Dara Johnson; his daughters, son-in-law, granddaughters, mother, brother and sisters, nieces and nephews, and so many friends who enjoyed his quick laugh, quirky sense of humor and willingness to help. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne, and sister, Sandy. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sept. 26, 2pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 5770 Arlington Avenue, Riverside. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to give may send a gift to Wesley UMC. Or give to the in his memory.
