They moved to California in the early 1940's and resided in Santa Monica. Valerie graduated from Santa Monica High School - class of 1955. She married James Henry Burrowes in 1955. Val would have continued working had it not been for Jim's health issues. They retired and moved back to Moreno Valley where Val enjoyed a variety of volunteer activities including serving on the board for both her mobile home community of Il Sorrento and the Moreno Valley Senior Citizen center. Val was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Helen Hitchcock and her sister Judith Jo Hitchcock Williams.
