VERNON "ANDY" ANDERSEN SR. was born April 30, 1919 and entered into eternity September 7, 2016. He was 97 years old. He was the son of a Danish father, Albrecht and mother Josephine (Nichols) Andersen. He was born in Kingman, Arizona and six months later the family moved to Needles, California, where he grew up. He was an experienced pilot flying his own airplane out of Flabob Airport since 1972 until he was 88 years old. Flabob was his "home away from home". He worked 44 years for the Santa Fe Railroad, as a telegraph operator. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII and again in the Korean War and was past commander of the American Legion Post 14. He is survived by his wife Kitty; 1 son: Andy Jr.; 5 grandchildren (Jeanine his favorite) and 6 great grandchildren. He loved life and Kitty! Services will be held Friday, September 23 at 10:30am at the Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be sent to Flabob Airport for the Young Eagles program.
