VERNON ROBERT LEUTHOLD It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Vernon Robert Leuthold of Sun Lakes, Banning on December 30, 2012. He was born in Stevens Point, WI on October 25, 1919 & grew up in Oshkosh. He met the love of his life, Toddy, in college & they were blissfully married on Sept.11, 1942 until her passing June 30, 2007. He was a cadet in Flying Class 42F of the Army Air Corps & graduated in 1942, instructing at Ellington Field, TX until he was transferred to England where he piloted thirteen B-17 missions over Germany at which time the war ended. In 1947 he reenlisted ending up at Mira Loma Air Force Station, CA, retiring in 1966. He then became a technical writer with Lockheed in Ontario, CA until 1985. Toddy & Vern made their home in Upland from 1963 until 1989 when they moved to Sun Lakes. He was a member of the Sun Lakes Men's Golf Club & Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Banning. He is survived by his loving daughter, Pamela, & her husband Chris Passalaqua of Oxnard, CA. as well as a brother Duane; sisters Joyce, June & Carmen. Vernon is being interred at a private service at Riverside National Cemetery. At the family's request in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Banning.
