Victor Collazo Obituary
VICTOR COLLAZO After a long, brave battle, Victor joined our Lord on January 6, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Victor was 64 years of age. He was born in New York City and grew up in the Bronx. He lost his mother, Carmen Collazo, at an early age. He is survived by his father, Adolph Collazo, who still resides in the Bronx. He is the cherished stepson of Rose Collazo; preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Riguera, (Jeanne, Tanya, Kassandra) and his beloved grandparents, and uncles. Victor set down new roots in Riverside, California in 1972, and where he began a profession as a hairstylist for many years. It was during this time that he met his lifelong love, Delia. His in-laws, Santos and Jennie Rivera loved Victor and they were very much a family to him. Victor and Delia had 38 wonderful years together, and he arranged their wedding himself as a gift to her. He also started a new job in 1985 at the University of Southern California (USC), where he happily worked for 18 years. Victor and Delia shared their lives with children: Joel (Joyce Calo), Delana, and Eric (Jessica); grandchildren Robbie Castro and his sister, Cheyenne; Arthur Vega and his sister and brothers, Erica, Gabriel and Eric, Jr.; Bonnie Liemas and her sister, Misty; 9 nieces and 6 nephews, 11 great nieces, and 18 great nephews. He will be dearly missed by the kids in his life. Victor loved to be active and outdoors. He also loved sports; the 49ers, Dodgers, Lakers and USC football. He snow skied, cycled, loved Colorado river trips, camping trips, and vacations on the beautiful beaches in Mexico with his family, and friends, Felix and Katie Alva and Pat and Terri Cox. Even when he was very ill, he played as much golf as he could, and loved every minute of it. Victor loved music of all kinds, loved to dance and was always stylish and charming. All who knew him will miss him. Services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer, 7944 Magnolia Ave., Riverside 92504. Celebration of Life to follow at American Legion Hall, Fairmount Park 1:00, 2979 Dexter Dr., Riverside, 92501. In lieu of flowers, donations to One Legacy.
