VINCENT JAMES WALSH September 1, 1928 - June 4, 2016 Vincent Walsh, of El Cajon, CA, passed away peacefully early June 4, 2016. Vincent was born in Buffalo, New York, September 1, 1928. He was married to Elizabeth Jeanne Walsh for 61 years until her death in 2013. He is survived by children, Therese Walsh of San Diego, Mike Walsh of Riverside, Maureen Regan of Rowlett, Texas, Colleen Keto of Hemet, Susie Dentt of El Cajon, Mary Harris of San Diego, Tom Walsh of Murrieta, Edward Walsh of Del Mar and Sean Walsh of Escondido; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and brother Norbert Walsh. Vincent was a Captain in the Marine Corp and continued in the MC reserves through 1966. He enlisted right out of high school, serving in the tail end of WWII, and in 1950 served in active duty in the Korean War, where he was awarded many medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Vince received his Engineering degree from the Univ. of Buffalo and also played fullback on the football team. He was recruited by Rohr Industries as an engineer, moved his wife and children to Riverside spanning a 37 year career working his way up to executive positions in Riverside and Chula Vista. He also participated in 10ks and was blessed with great health maintaining exercise and participating in family sporting events. After his retirement, he joined the La Mesa Senior softball league, playing over 1,000 games of one of his favorite sports. Vince was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend and stressed "doing your best" and achieving your educational and professional goals. Vince was well loved and will be greatly missed. A celebration of Vince's life will be held Sunday, June 10th at the Victoria Club, 2521 Arroyo Drive, Riverside from 11:00am - 3:00pm.
