Virgil B. Bardwell Obituary
VIRGIL B. BARDWELL Virgil passed away on June 23, 2015 at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, Ca. He was born in 1920 to Dezzie and Waitstell Bardwell of Caddo, Oklahoma. At the age of 16 he left home to find work in California where he took a job cutting weeds in an orange orchard. Thirty-seven years later he retired from Civil Service as General Foreman for Public Works at Camp Pendleton. A decorated war veteran, he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service in the US Army as a tank commander in World War II and received a second Purple Heart as a US Marine Corps tank commander in Korea. Virgil, a longtime resident of Fallbrook, California, moved to Hemet, California, in 1983 where he remained until his death on his 95th birthday, just four months after the passing of his cherished wife of 74 years, Ruby. Virgil is survived by two sons: Jeff (June) and Lowell (Donna); two sisters: Audrey Bergin and Delene Armstrong; six grandchildren: Shelly, Devin, Marcie, Quincy, Randy and Rebecca; thirteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; daughter, Linda; sisters: Gracie, Opal, Ola, Margaret, Addie, Eddis and Ailene; brother, Travis and great-grandson, Joshua. An exceptional man who loved God and was loved by all, he will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held on July 3, 11am, at Faith Community Church, 375 N. Sanderson Ave., Hemet, California.
