Virginia M. Hampton Obituary
VIRGINIA M. HAMPTON 6/01/1924-05/05/2013 Virginia "Jinks" Hampton passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Virginia was born in Riverside, CA on 6/01/1924. She graduated from Poly High School in 1942. She married Joseph Hampton in Riverside, CA on 10/24/1944 and was his wife of 62 years until his passing in November of 2006. Virginia and Joe had five children while living in Riverside, CA. They moved to the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley in 1968. Virginia was very athletic when she was young and took up playing tennis again in her late forties. She was an "A" player and played tennis until she was 75 years old. She was a member of the "Tops" club in Hemet for many years. She also loved watching Dodger's baseball. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her optimistic attitude, laughter and love will be missed by all and she will be forever in our hearts. Virginia is survived by her five children, Dennis Hampton (Terri) of Wildomar, Rod Hampton (Sheena) of Moreno Valley, Jody Venturina (Arthur) of Yucaipa, Susan Moya (Frank) of Beaumont and Nanette Temple (Russell) of Hemet; brother Bud Drake of Havasu City, AZ; sisters-in-law, Barbara Drake of Riverside, Elaine Drake of Riverside and Wanda Drake of Riverside; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, May 10th at 11:00am at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 701 N. Sanderson Ave., Hemet, CA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be directed to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 701 N. Sanderson Ave, Hemet, CA 92545 and /or VNA Murrieta Hospice of California, 39815 Alta Murrieta Drive, Ste. C8, Murrieta, CA 92563.
