Waldo E. "Wally" Bauer Obituary
WALDO E. BAUER "Wally" Passed away surrounded by his family, on June 10, 2013 in Victorville, CA at the age of 86. He was born on Oct 24, 1926 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Waldo (Red) and Jessie Bauer. He grew up in Kenosha, WI and was called to active duty by the US Army Cadet Aviation program leaving three days before high school graduation on D-Day at the age of 17. Wally reported to Houghton, Michigan as an Air Corps Cadet. While there he attended Michigan College of Mining and Technology. After receiving an honorable discharge he continued his education and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1950. He later went on to get his Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1974. Wally met the love of his life Betty at the American Legion on Nov 18, 1949 and were married on Feb 3, 1951 in Kenosha, WI. They moved to Riverside, California in May 1956, where he worked at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona, CA as a Department Head until his retirement from civil service in 1983. Following his retirement he worked as an Engineering and Management Consultant for several companies, owned a real estate office, and a liquor store before retiring in 1991 "to the good life on the golf course and traveling with Betty". He loved golfing, ham radio, oil painting, coaching youth baseball and football, and traveling in his RV. His favorite activities though were times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren and Green Bay Packer games. Wally is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty; his daughters, Cheryl Bauer of Bakersfield, CA, Karen McNeal of Aberdeen, SD and Bonnie (Rick) Roberts of Riverside, CA and eight grandchildren, Rick and Robert Ripley of Bakersfield, CA, Ryan McNeal of Oahu, HI and Kathryn McNeal of Aberdeen, SD, Brandon, Corey and Mary Roberts of Riverside, CA and Kyle Waldo Bauer of Riverside, CA. He was preceded in death by his son Gary Waldo Bauer, brother Robert Bauer and parents. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 17 at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Riverside, CA 11:00 am with Graveside Services following. Please visit www.piercebroscrestlawn.com to offer condolences.
