Wally was born in Plymouth, Michigan to Jack O'Connor and Marie Kipp O'Connor. In the early years, during the depression, Wallace remembers driving his grandfather's tractor on his farm. After graduating from Berkley High School in 1942, he enlisted in the army and was sent to the European Theatre. He served his country in WW2, in Normandy; Northern France. He was a Staff Sergeant with the 87th Engineer Heavy Pontoon Battalion. Wally met his future wife at school when she was thirteen and he was seventeen. After the War, they reunited in Berkley, Michigan. Three months later, on May 1, 1946, they were married and would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Wallace attended Ford Trade School where his father was an instructor; following Ford Trade School, he attended Wayne State and loved playing golf with his golf buddies. He was lucky to get four holes in one. Wallace worked in the aerospace industry. He later moved into management in the rebuilding European Auto Parts. In the early 1970's Wally coached Corona Rams youth football and was a PTA president in Letha Raney. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #328 in Norco. Wally and Jerry were fortunate to travel often and they made many special friends and memories during their travels. Wally was a devout Catholic; attended church each Sunday, raised his family in the church and is now in the presence of God. He will be missed by his wife, family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you make a donation to Corona Regional Medical Center Hospice.
