Walter Alexander Ogilvie Obituary
WALTER ALEXANDER OGILVIE 9/27/16 - 12/09/12 Walter Alexander Ogilvie passed peacefully in Moraga, CA with his family present. Walter was born in Ashland, Mass., spending most of his life in Riverside, CA. After graduating from Poly High, he served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Walter was an officer and detective for the Riverside Police Department for 33 years. He was respected by his peers and the Riverside community. He wed Margaret (Peg) Stebbins in Laguna Beach on September 10, 1948. They were married for almost 50 years residing in a home they designed in Riverside. It was the perfect spot for their mountain, beach, or desert get-always. Peg preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his five brothers, Robert, Edward, Paul, George and Donald. They were known as the Ogilvie Boys in their youth. Walt had his pilots license and loved to fly in the skies of Southern CA. He was an avid bowler, golfer and square dancer. Walt enjoyed driving and owned fast cars but was always careful and never had a ticket or an accident. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a loyal brother, and a cherished friend. He is survived by his daughter, Joan; granddaughters, Kelly and Kerry, and great grandson Wylie. Also, three sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Walter's life was an adventure filled with lots of love and laughter. All who knew him will miss his bright spirit, impressive wit, and sparkly blue eyes. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery at a later date.
