DR. WAYNE K. STUCKEY Passed away in Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday, Oct 2, 2012. Wayne was the youngest of three children born to parents Russell and Lavon Stuckey. He was raised in Pittsburg Kansas where he received both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. From there he attended Kansas State University, where he attained his PhD in Chemistry in 1966. Following college he settled in Torrance and reported to work at Aerospace Corporation working on research connected with the effects of space re-entry, and was an integral part of the Space Program, having received The Distinguished Achievement award for his lifetime support of programs in the area of advanced materials technology and many others. In 1975 he married Miyoko Nakashimo, and they resided together for many years before their move to Menifee in 2007. During Wayne's career as a chemist at Aerospace, he was world-renowned and was often invited to many countries to give speeches regarding his work. He was at the Pentagon on 9/11. He enjoyed high tech gadgets. He also enjoyed playing cards and a variety of games with his many friends. His friends often remarked how much fun he was to be around. He was a fan of the Lakers and Dodgers, and also enjoyed watching football. He truly loved golf, and when he wasn't golfing himself or watching it on TV, he officiated for the Southern California Golf Association, and the PGA. One highly memorable experience was playing golf at Pebble Beach for his 50th birthday. He enjoyed many trips with Miyoko all around the world, but when asked his favorite was visiting Washington DC. Wayne and Miyoko hosted many great parties. Wayne enjoyed playing the saxophone and listening to Kenny G., Ray Charles and Hiroshima. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Miyoko; his 3 adored children: Debbie, Dana, and Kenny; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Wayne's Life at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at the Evans Brown Sun City Mortuary Chapel, 27010 Encanto Drive, Sun City, CA 92585. There will be a reception immediately following at the Oasis Clubhouse, 29100 Midway Summit Rd, Menifee, CA 92584.
