William A. "Dub" Doshier Obituary
WILLIAM A. "DUB" DOSHIER Dub passed away on 9/18/12 in Riverside following two months of seriously declining health and the return of cancer. He was born 10/5/1931 near Temple, TX to Alfred & Thelma (McDonald) Doshier. They and his younger brothers, Jack and Jim, moved to Pasadena about 1940 where his sister Sandra was born. At Pasadena City College he played football two years and was a starter on the team that won the 1951 National Jr. Rose Bowl Championship. Dub attended College of the Pacific (now named University of the Pacific) in Stockton with a full football scholarship. He was starting left tackle when they played in the Sun Bowl on New Year's Day, 1953. He graduated in June, 1956. He received his MA from Fresno State University in 1973. He taught physical education, history and math for 37 years starting at Live Oak & Lodi High Schools in northern CA. He was a head football coach 27 years at Summerville H.S. in Tuolumne, Sonoma H.S., Kingsburg H.S. & Norte Vista H.S. in Riverside. He umpired baseball 25 years & was the golf coach later at NOVI. Dub enjoyed golfing with his buddies at Canyon Crest Country Club, dining with their Gourmet Group, sailing with the Crazy Cruisers, bridge, travel, reading, daily exercising and attending worship at the Grove. He was married to his college sweetheart, Priscilla (Keays) for 58 years. Dub is survived by his wife; sons, Ken (Myrna) & Kyle (Juli); daughters Valerie & Pamela (Stephen) Moore; grandchildren Brennan, Alyson (Jeff), Christopher (Jamie), Kalen, Morgan, Cameron & Sydney; great-grand-children Carter, Caelum, Jack, Thomas & Ayana; his younger brother Jim (Sheri); sister Sandra Morrow & sister-in-law Linda, plus many friends and relatives. He was predeceased by brother Jack. The family would be honored if anyone wishes to make a donation in Dub's memory to or Assistance League of Riverside. We hope all friends & former athletes from Dub's teams will join us in the Celebration of Life to be held Sat., Sept. 29th from 11:30am to 3:00pm at the Grove Community Church, 19900 Grove Community Dr., Riverside, CA. There will be a luncheon to follow in room C100 after the service.
