William Allan "Al" McIntosh Obituary
WILLIAM ALLAN (AL) McINTOSH, husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, physical therapist, gracious friend and devoted servant of God, was born October 16, 1920 in Portland, Jamaica. He resided in Riverside, CA since 1978. He was married to Yvonne McIntosh in November of 1952 until her passing in July of 2011. He is survived by older sister Swiftley Gonzalez of Nashville, Tennessee. Al was father to two children, Michael McIntosh and Angela McIntosh-Martin, medical doctor employed by Kaiser Permanente Riverside and married to Jalani Bakari with three children Akilah, Malik and Dikymbe Martin. Al was a dedicated and diligent father and grandfather. He had a passion for gardening and caring for his prized fruit trees, in particular persimmons. He loved to spend time in the yard with his many trees and share his fruits of labor. Al was the epitome of gratitude, humility and service to others. He was a dependable and caring friend who others adored spending time with. Al helped, fathered and influenced countless numbers of people throughout his 95 years. He continued to witness his faith in God even during his last months of life. He never complained even when having pain just thanking those who came to visit and care for him. He lost his battle to cancer on July 8, 2016 in Loma Linda, CA. He was a devoted member of the La Sierra University SDA Church since 1978 and services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 1:30 pm at La Sierra University Church located at 4973 Sierra Vista Avenue, Riverside, CA 92505. After service there will be food and drinks and time to fellowship with family. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Pacific Coast Chapter of Northern Caribbean University Alumni Association. (This is a nonprofit organization that supports NCU in Jamaica with student scholarships). Contributions can be given at the service or mail to: Janet Fletcher, 6446 Langdon Avenue, Van Nuys, CA 91406. Make payable to PCC NCU AA. in charge of arrangement.
