Bill passed away peacefully on August 15, 2017 at his residence in Glenview Assisted Living, Carlsbad, CA. He was born in San Bernardino on December 2, 1919 to Douglas and Burdette Champion who owned and resided at Glen Ranch in Lydle Creek. Bill had a long and successful career in the paper business and then starting Champion Container in 1965 in Riverside. He was active at the Victoria Country Club and was president in 1969 and enjoyed playing golf. He loved Riverside and was grateful to have lived there. He was married to Dorothy in 1938 and they had a happy and long marriage of 60 years and she preceded him in death in 1998. Bill was one of the most giving, kind and generous gentlemen you could ever find. They had two children, Robert "Bob" Douglas Champion and Barbara Jane ZInner. Bob preceded Bill in death in 2005. Bill and Dorothy moved to Pauma Valley, CA in 1990 where they played lots of golf, traveled and entertained their friends.
