WILLIAM CLAUDE PAYNE 1930 to 2016 William Claude Payne, 86, died Saturday, December 17, 2016, at his home in Irving, TX. For the past ten months, he had been experiencing complications from a pituitary tumor. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Pauline Payne; son William Payne Jr.; daughter Paulette Vander Kamp; granddaughter Carly Payne; and his sister Erma Jean Marie (Payne) Lauda. He was preceded in death by his sisters Ella Murtle Ruby (Payne} Doyle and Rose May Louella (Payne) Manaugh. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, the son of Claude Stuart Payne and Mary Louise (Brunce) Payne, the family moved to California in 1943. Mr. Payne attended Elsinore High School and worked at a variety of jobs. He met his wife Pauline Anderson and married in 1953, he was later drafted into the United States Army in 1954. After leaving the Army, Mr. Payne attended Cal Poly Pomona and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. After graduation, he worked as a computer programmer for Aerospace Corporation and the Naval Weapons Laboratory. Mr. Payne built his own home on the family property in Perris, California and lived there until 2006. Mr. Payne enjoyed working on the family property. He personally built two additions to the family home and purchased several acres of surrounding land. He and his wife used part of this land to raise Arabian horses. Mr. Payne also used a large portion of the land to plant and cultivate a pomegranate orchard. Computer programming continued as a hobby after Mr. Payne's retirement. He taught himself several programing languages and enjoyed working with the Linux operating system. Mr. Payne also loved hiking and kayaking with his family whenever possible.
