William D. Fischer Sr. Obituary
In Loving Memory
William D. Fischer, Sr. (Bill) passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 2, 2017, with family by his side. We will miss this loving and compassionate man!
Born on October 19, 1928 in New York, he spent a good portion of his youth with family (The Weeks) on their apple farm in New York State, which gave him a lifetime of fond memories. Having served in the U.S. Navy between 1945 and 1947, plus 5 years in reserves, he traveled the world on peacekeeping missions, and survived nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll. Bill married his lovely wife Patricia Anne (Vesey) and they purchased their first home in Levittown, PA in the mid-'50's. There, they raised four children, William, Jr., Kathleen (Rogers), Michael, and Patricia (Crist). After 16 years, the family moved to Ridgewood, NJ, then settled in southern California.
Having resided in Huntington Beach, CA for 15 years, and then Sun City, CA for over 25 years, Bill worked in the aerospace industry supervising a team that maintained flight control systems for commercial and military aircraft. He spent time on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga with a focus on anti-submarine aircraft systems. Upon retirement at 67 years, he and his second wife Katherine (deceased) enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and visiting children and grandchildren.
For the past 8 years, Bill continued enjoying retirement with his love, Miss Audrey Simmons. They could be seen walking around Old Town Temecula holding hands like school kids, and went to many concerts, plays, movies and restaurants. Bill is survived by all four children, grandchildren Lisa, Brandon, Justin, William, III, Patrick, Meghan, Jacob, Emily, adopted granddaughters Krista and Heather, and 6 great grandchildren. He will truly be missed, and is in God's hands now. A private memorial/ reception will be held by family members.
