William Henry Sexauer Obituary
WILLIAM HENRY SEXAUER, 86, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2014, after a long illness. Bill was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on March 27, 1928, to Grace and Hauns Sexauer, but lived most of his life in California and called it home. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, June Sexauer, who he married on Valentines Day, 1974. He is survived by five children, Layne Goldsmith Nee: L. Sexauer (Phillip), David Sexauer (Carla), Lori Sexauer, Debbie Massengill Nee: Steeves (Greg), and Bruce Steeves (Marjoree), his eight grandchildren and his seven great grandchildren. Bill was a painting contractor who could match any color at a glance but he never took his work too seriously; his outside interests were his true passion. He spent his life collecting, restoring and showing antique cars, was an avid hunter who loved to shoot skeet and trap for sport, and was always up for a road trip or a long driving adventure. Las Vegas was a favorite weekend destination where he loved to play cards. He was known among friends for telling great stories and for practical jokes and his April Fools Day tales were always a doozy. He played an active part in Little League, Indian Guides, Cub Scouts, and Pop Warner football with his son, Dave, and remained an avid sports fan. He was alert and clearheaded to the very last; teasing his nurses, singing all 10 verses of an old drinking song, and listing every one of the dozens of cars and trucks he'd owned by year, make and model. He will be greatly missed by his family and his dear friend of over 60 years, Jack Zalesky, who gathered to celebrate his life while he was still in it! A memorial service in his honor will be held on his birthday, March 27, 2015, in Clovis, CA.
