William John (Bill) Teunissen Obituary
WILLIAM JOHN (BILL) TEUNISSEN went home to be with his Lord on November 29, 2015. Bill was born on June 6, 1926 in Raymond, Minnesota to Fred and Dena (Dangermond) Teunissen. His family moved from Minnesota to the Arlington area of Riverside in 1929 where his father bought a dairy on Van Buren Blvd. naming it Teunissen's Dairy. He worked the family dairy until 1944 when, while attending Poly High School, he was inducted into the Army and proudly served his tour of duty in Korea. Upon being discharged he got engaged to Gale Adams whom he met while attending a Christian endeavor at Magnolia Avenue Presbyterian Church. After their marriage they built a home on the dairy site and in 1955 when Fred and Dena retired they bought and ran it with Bill's brother Bernie. In 1970 Bill and Gale bought the dairy from Bernie and continued running it until they closed it in 1982. Always being a progressive businessman Bill saw the opportunity to build a new business on his existing property and in 1977 he and Gale built Teunissen's Car and RV Wash. A business his daughter Judy and her husband Jay run today. Bill attended Magnolia Ave. Presbyterian Church from the age of 6 until the day of his death. He was an active member in all aspects of his church, being the "go to" guy whenever help was needed. He and Gale were married at the church and raised their 3 daughters there. On any Sunday if you visited Mag Church you would find Bill and Gale standing side by side, holding hands and greeting you with a smile and a hug. They led their life with faith and always had room in their hearts and home for friends and family. After 70 years of marriage Gale lovingly sent Bill home to be with their God and vows to live the remainder of her life honoring their years together and the everlasting love they shared. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Gale; his daughters Ruth (Bob) and Judy (Jay); two grandsons Joseph (Jenny) and Ryan; and his brother Don (Laura); and 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Peggy; his parents Fred and Dena; and brothers Abe and Bernie. He leaves family members and friends behind who loved him and enriched his life. Many who called him Dad and Grandpa as Bill welcomed all to be a part of his earthly family. His celebration of life will be held at Magnolia Avenue Presbyterian Church, 7200 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, Ca. 92504 on Saturday, December 12th at 11:00am, with a reception immediately following at the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Teunissen endowment at Magnolia Ave. Presbyterian Church. Arrangements entrusted to Akes Family Funeral Home
