William Joseph Lindstrom Obituary
WILLIAM JOSEPH LINDSTROM passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the age of 103. A resident of Riverside, CA since the 1930's, he was born on June 20, 1912 in Salem, Oregon. He grew up there but ventured to California to attend San Bernardino Valley College and later U.C. Berkeley, where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved back to Riverside to work for Cal Electric, which later became Southern California Edison, where he worked until retirement and distinguished himself by creating the Transformer Load Management Program, a huge cost-saving benefit to the company that remains viable. Bill married Beth Coffman and they had three sons who grew up in Riverside. Sadly, Beth died prematurely and after a brief widowhood, Bill remarried a local widow, Jean Hudspeth, with four children. Of strong Swedish stock, Bill was again preceded in death by his second wife, but continued to delight in his grandchildren and their families over the ensuing years. His stepdaughter, Valerie, has lived with him as his caregiver for the last many years, and deserves much credit for his amazing longevity. Bill designed his all-electric home back in the early 1960's and remained in that home until his death. He is survived by two of his three sons, Bruce C. Lindstrom and John Barton Lindstrom; a stepson, Thomas S. Hudspeth, and two step daughters, Valerie J. Eichel and Elaine B. Fiveland, in addition to 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. There will be a service at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer in Riverside on Monday, January 18th at 2:30 p.m. The burial will then be private.
