William Lee (Bill) Holloway Obituary
WILLIAM (BILL) LEE HOLLOWAY, 71, of Sun City, CA, passed away at home May 21, 2015. The youngest of 9 siblings, Bill was born September 27, 1943 in Knob Knoster, MO to Joseph and Edith Holloway. Bill's family moved to Sedalia, MO in 1943 where he attended high school. After graduation, Bill began his pursuit of adventure by joining the U.S. Navy where he served on board a submarine during the Vietnam War. When his service ended, Bill moved back to Sedalia, married his high school sweetheart Gayle, and became a father to his daughter Rebecca. While in Sedalia he served two years on the City Council. Subsequently, he and his family moved to Chicago where he worked in a steel mill for a time, and then passionate about flying small aircraft, opened Chicago Pilot Center. In the early eighties, Bill and his family moved to the Inland Empire in California. There, Bill worked as an insurance salesman and a flight instructor. He was last employed as an over the road trucker, which he said was his favorite job, as he enjoyed the adventure of the open road. Bill's pastimes included RV Camping, Blackjack, Keno, square-dancing, and spending time in the company of his much-loved animals. Bill will be sorely missed by his longtime companion Cindy; his good friend Sylvia; his daughter Rebecca; and his little dog Winnie. He is survived by his siblings Amy of OH, Peggy of MO, Beverly of NV, David and his wife Koke of ME, Nancy of CO, and Pat and her husband Andy of CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Edith Holloway, brothers Jim and Steven, and his former wife Gayle. We would like to thank the staff of Hope Hospice for their skilled and compassionate care. Bill's interment service was held June 16, 2015 at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia, MO.
