WILLIAM WOOD

Age 84, passed away on July 11, 2017 from Lewy Body Dementia at Integrated Care Communities in Moreno Valley, CA. He was born on October 11, 1932 in Edinburgh, Scotland and had lived in Riverside, CA for 1 year, previously in Yucaipa, CA for 34 years and Redlands, CA for 10+ years. He obtained his BS degree from Brigham Young University (1957-1961). He served in the U.S. Army (SP3(T), GCM, 2 years. He was a teacher for the Redlands School District for 35 years and taught for Arthur Murray School of Dance. William was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Yucaipa, CA.
Bill was a man who loved the Lord and sought to serve him with all his heart. He was always eager to share Christ with all who would listen.
In 1977 at a christian camp Bill met the love of his life Joyce and soon they were married. Joyce had two daughters, Susan and Sandy and Bill embraced the role of stepfather and in it he took great pride.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with family and friends. Many a day he could be found out on the course with his buddies.
Papa, we will keep your memories dear in our hearts just for now, for when we all get to heaven; now that will be a glorious day. So until then..... Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen
William is survived by his wife Joyce Wood of Riverside, CA; daughters Sandy Owens (Tim) of Riverside, CA, Sue Hendrix of Twin Peaks, CA, Terrie Ashby (Jim) of St. George, UT, and Wendy Kaplan (Steve) of Stateline, NV; sons Donnie Wood (Jazel) of Stateline, NV; and Leslie Wood (Sherry) of Keno, OR; sister Norma Clay of St. George, UT; brother Eric Wood (Marge); 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Lilly Wood (Fairweather) of Yucaipa, CA; and sister Julia VanRensburg of Salt Lake City, UT.
Gravesite Service will be at 10:30am on Tuesday, August 8 at Riverside National Cemetery. Reception gathering following gravesite service at 12noon at the Owens' residence, 2098 Gainsborough Drive, Riverside, CA 92506 Arlington Mortuary, Directors (800) 275-4648
