Obituary Condolences

Zeta Arlene Roby passed away Friday, July 14, 2017. Zee, as she was known to family and friends, was born on August 6th on the family farm in Dellona Township, Wisconsin to Charles and Minnie Loper Flynn. After graduation from Reedsburg High School, Zee moved to Madison, Wisconsin to attend Madison Business College and worked in the county tax office. In 1953 she drove her 1941 Chevy on Route 66 for a planned 6 month visit to California. Riverside became her home for the next 64 years. Soon after arriving in California, Zee was hired as a staff member in the acquisitions department of the library at the new UC Riverside campus. Throughout her life her career choices reflected her love of education, reading and children. Zee later graduated from UCR with a degree in English and earned her teaching credential. She taught 4th grade at Arnold Heights Elementary School at March Air Force Base and substitute taught for many years in the Riverside and Alvord School Districts. Zee also worked for the Riverside Public Library, National University Library and as a reading teacher at The Reading Game and Sylvan Learning Center.
Zee loved gardening and could often be found outside enjoying her beautiful yard full of plants, flowers and birds. An excellent cook and homemaker, she always enjoyed the morning paper and a good cup of coffee. Zee was also an avid sports fan and looked forward to reading the latest issue of Sports Illustrated and following the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. Her certificate of ownership in the Packers was proudly framed and displayed in her home office. She enjoyed betting on various Super Bowls, NBA finals and World Series games with her brother Jerry, often trading the same $5 bill back and forth for several years.
Zee was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents and brothers Roger and Robert Flynn. She is survived by her two sons, Randall Clarke of New Berlin, WI and Bryan Roby of Riverside, stepchildren Jo Ann Tedesco and Mike Roby, grandchildren Bryan and Hannah Clarke, Elias and Aaron Tedesco and great-granddaughter Stella Clarke. She also leaves behind her sister Rita Riesebieter of Sun Prairie, WI, brothers Gene (Alice) Flynn of Hillsboro, WI, Gerald (Sharon) Flynn of Oregon, WI, many nieces and nephews, former husband Aden Clarke, many friends and neighbors and Kelly, "the best dog in the world."
A family gathering will be held later this summer in Wisconsin. Anyone wishing to honor her is encouraged to make a memorial gift to the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center or the Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center for their summer education programs for children.
Zee was a loving mother to her boys and a loyal friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all.
