I spoke to Obette just minutes before he was taken from us. He was such a wonderful person and I am privileged to have known him as a friend to our Dr's office. I still grieve for him and I pray for Obette's family. Though there is nothing that can be said to comfort them in their loss, please know that he touched a lot of hearts in his life and I was just one of them. May God comfort those of you closest to him.

Mi querido Hermano, Obette I am lost for words. You have touched so many lives and I know all of us that knew you will never forget the great memories we all shared together in college. Your friendship was very special to so many of us we will miss you. Madrone Hall, i can still picture all our friends together sitting around and enjoying the friendships we created. I have known and loved Obette since our days together at Humboldt State University. He was always one to offer a hug, words of encouragement, or shoulder to cry on. He even taught me the dance to "Men in Black"! He is truly loved and missed by all whom he touched. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.

Obette, I just learned today of your far-too-early departure from this Earth. I am stunned and so, so saddened.
I first met you when we were fresh-faced freshmen at HSU. You were so funny and charismatic, you drew everybody in. Over the next several years see spent a lot of time together. You were such a good friend, you always had a smile, a hug, an open ear. You helped teach me piano when I was struggling with it in music class. I'll never forget how you played "Faithfully" by Journey on the piano flawlessly, and I was shocked because I had no idea how good you were. You were so modest, even though you were so smart and good at everything you did.
We didn't keep in touch after college, and it has been years since we've had any contact. But please know that your beautiful soul touched me, and the lives of so many others. Please help your family and loved ones remember you but not live in mourning for too long. I'm sure these last few months have been extremely difficult for them. My condolences go out to your fiancé and your family. You were so loved, Obette, and you will be missed by every single person who had the privilege of knowing you. Rest in peace, old friend.

I am very sorry to hear about Obette and extend my condolences to all those who had the privilege of knowing him and being part of his life. I cherish the time we spent in Humboldt and the fun we had together. Looking at his photos I am reminded what a positive and committed friend he was to us all.

I am so sorry that I am just finding out about Obette's passing now. I am in shock and am having trouble finding the words to express how I feel right now. He was an amazing man, and one of the kindest people I have ever known. He was a huge part of my life and shaped who I am today. I have missed him so much over the years that we have not spoken, and now knowing that we never will makes me sick and completely breaks my heart. I feel horrible for your family Obette, I know they meant the world to you and you to them. I also know that your spirit will keep them going and keep them strong because you always gave them everything. I can remember your laugh, your looks and your amazing singing and musical talents. I will never forget those things and promise to keep your spirit alive in everything I do. The world was a better place when you were in it, they took an angel, at least you have your wings now.

I never had the opportunity to meet this young man but by all accounts, he was a delightful human being. I reside in Yucca Valley, where he died and every day, I see the memorial that has been erected in his memory. I just want his family and friends to know that as I pass it, I say hello and pray for him and tell him how sorry I am that he was taken so soon.

Obette never said a bad thing about anyone. He was always so positive, funny, upbeat, charismatic and caring to mention
Just a few of his amazing attributes. He would go out of his way to help anyone and his kindness will never be forgotten.

It was such an inspiration to see Obette play the piano, sing and taught himself to play the guitar. We formed a band with his uncle Mike as lead guitarist, Clenette as our lead singer Ferdy on bass and me on drums. Maroon 5 was what started it all. Obette was a wonderful human being and he will always be remembered. My heart goes out to his immediate family members, friends, co-workers and Ivy Huang. God bless your soul, Obette. I had the honor to meet Obette, he was a great spirited person. His smile was so contagious. Words would never be able to explain how great of a person he was. All I can say, is how blessed we are to have meet a wonderful human being. You will be missed.

I met Obette as a baby almost 32 years ago when I went on a family trip with my BFF, Nora Lacap Manuel. I watched him grow to be a fine young man with a gentle soul. Little did I know he was going to be an Angel in heaven. We are all blessed to have met and known him for a short while. He has made his mark here on earth and will always be remembered dearly. Obette, you will be forever in our hearts :)

You have left such a positive impact on so many people, we will be able to remember you more for the legacy you created instead of the tragic way you left us. Always the humble, soft spoken, kind hearted likeable guy, you never seemed to put yourself first. A few of us tried to make you mean, fire you up a bit, but you simply cared too much about hurting someones feelings. You are a true inspiration, both before and after your untimely grace to heaven. Your memories will always remain, my friend. You lived a better life in 33 years than most ever will in 80 or 90. I have no doubt you'll continue looking after the ones you love, but this time from heaven where the good people end up. Obette, I can't believe your gone. I will always have a place in my heart for you. I can remember the first time we met @ the casino as co-workers and having lunch together. There were many moments you made me laugh. Obette would do anything to make my life simple. Obette was like a brother cause during holidays he hang out with me while my family stayed in Louisiana. Obette I can remember the trip to Vegas with your cousin PJ, we had a blast. I'm sorry @ this time I can't attend your funeral but I will definitely come visit you soon @ your grave to pay respects.
