John (Johnny) Lawrence Miller, 90, entered into rest at Central Peninsula Hospital on August 1, 2018.
He was born in Moscow, Idaho on November 22, 1927 to David and Gladys (DeGroff) Miller. Johnny was a logger before joining the Navy where he served proudly on the USS Dixie and USS DeHaven. Johnny became a long-haul truck driver and retired as a teamster, from Mammoth Trucking, in Fairbanks in July 1988.
John was a proud member of the Soldotna Bible Chapel and loved his church family. He was a member of the "Ham Radio Coffee Group" at the Moose is Loose in Soldotna. His Ham radio call sign was "KL7igz." He was also a member of the Elks, VFW, and American Legion.
Johnny made friends wherever he went, shook hands with everyone he met, and always had a kind or funny remark for everyone. He never knew an enemy. John will be sadly missed by family and friends. "Keep on Truckin' Johnny Miller."
He was preceded by his wife Dorothy and son Edward Dean. He is survived by his sons Dale A. Miller (Marla) of Oregon City, OR, John E. Miller (Megan) of Fall City, OR, Larry Miller (Brenda) of Sweet Home, OR; daughters Karen J. Miller of Fairbanks, AK, Dawn Davis (Brad) of Fairbanks, AK; and longtime companion, Donna Kralick of Soldotna, AK.

It was a blessing for all of us to have dad visit our home in Oregon City in April and May. It was a little hard on him being away from Alaska because he loved it up there so much, calling it home the last half of his life. As it turned out, while he was here, the whole family got together along with some dear friends and we celebrated dad! He enjoyed a day of family and friends, meeting a lot of new grandchildren and reconnecting with family he hadn't seen in many years. It was also his Bon Voyage party back to Alaska. He had a grand time and we're sure in the end he was pleased about the whole experience. During his life, dad reached out to total strangers as if it was his job to pass the time of day with them and make them feel at ease. Dad received awards from the military for handling phone patches via his ham radio during war time. While he was here dad reminded us of how great a story teller he was and how much he loved to re-tell the good stories best. We're so glad he was able to be with us in the last segment of his life and we'll miss him for the rest of ours. God bless you, dad, we love you forever, Dale and Marla, Ben, Kim, Eli, Leilah, Elias, Morgen and Rowan.

We are sorry to hear about Mr. Miller's life ending 90. We know his many close friends and family will miss him. While considering his obituary, we were quickly reminded of the biblical words stated by Jesus that says, "happy are those conscious of their spiritual need." As Mr. Miller rests, please remember another biblical promise that says, God "is close to those broken at heart."- the Brennans
