Glenna VanHatten Obituary

Longtime Kenai resident, Ms. Glenna VanHatten, 78, died Sunday, March 21, 2021 at her home in Kenai with her family by her side.

A celebration of her life will be held later in the summer of 2021.

Glenna was born April 27, 1942 in Butte, Montana. She lived in North Pole from 1984 to 1985 before moving to Anchorage in 1985. In 1986 she moved to the Kenai Peninsula living in Kenai. She left Alaska in 2008 for a short while before returning in 2017.

The family wrote, "Glenna was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was a kind, generous, and spunky woman. Always there for her family and friends with a shoulder to lean on or a piece of advice. In her younger years, she enjoyed hiking, camping, and dancing to her country music. She loved being outdoors, whether it was picking wild mushrooms and berries or working in her garden, or just sitting in the sun reading a good book. She was always up for an adventure and to wherever Life took her. She was Loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her and now she is off onto her next great adventure."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Betty Bras; sister, Donna and brother-in-law Bob Jenkins.

She is survived by her Aunt, Dorothy Fisher of Coram, MT; daughter, Gina (Ron) Ross of Kenai; son, Samual VanHatten of Kenai; brothers, Richard Bras of Soldotna, Cy (Loni) Bras of Dillon, MT and Mike Bras of Coram, MT; sister, Jeannie (Buster) Richards of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; grandsons, Jeff (Angela) Holm of Battle Ground, WA, Kyle (Leslie) Ross of Sterling, and Dasan VanHatten; granddaughter, Julia (Alan) Horstman of Soldotna; great-grandsons, Koen Holm of Battle Ground, WA, Haedyn Horstman of Soldotna and Adam Adam Ross of Sterling; great-granddaughters, Madison Ross of Sterling, Ilsa Shaima of Vancouver, WA, Sidney Shaima of Battle Ground, WA, Annie Horstman of Mead, CO and Caeton Horstman of Mead, CO and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Glenna to the Hospice of The Central Peninsula – P.O. BOX 2584 – Soldotna, Alaska 99669.
