David Savoie Obituary

David George Savoie, 87, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, in Idaho City, ID.

David was born on September 22, 1933 in Janesville, MN to Alphonse and Lorraine Savoie. David served in the U.S. military in the Korean War. After the Army he received his bachelors degree in science from the University of St. Thomas then moved to Alaska where he raised his family in Sterling up until 1989, when he moved to Boise, ID. David and his wife Karen eventually moved to Idaho City, ID in 2006 and lived there happily until his death.

David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved living in the mountains and feeding the wild turkeys that wandered into his yard. He especially loved gardening and tending to his many fruit trees. Woodworking was his lifelong hobby. David was known for his quick wit and kind and compassionate spirit. He was a very loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

David is survived by his wife, Karen of 57 years; his children, Jackie (Haeg), Michelle (Savoie Garcia) and Michael Savoie; grandchildren, Kent, Kayla, Cassie and Jack; his sister Jacquie Moxey. He is preceded in death by his father, Alphonse and his mother, Lorraine; sister Shirley Twohy; and brothers Jim Savoie and Raoul Savoie.
David is cremated and will be laid to rest at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery after his wife passes. There will be a memorial service held this summer.

My Uncle Dave had the most beautiful smile. It really lit up a room. He was kind and really valued family. He had a great sense of humor!
