Longtime Kenai resident, Grace Ann Shook, 71, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Grace was born in Newark, NJ on July 8, 1949 to Lester and Esther Borgen. She graduated high school in 1967 at KCHS and married her husband, Vern Shook, on January 4, 1969 at 19 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David. Grace is survived by: her husband of 52 years, Vern Shook; children: Celest Engelbarts, Kelly Gschwend, Andrew and Amanda Shook; grandchildren: Anthony and Deb Engelbarts, Krista Engelbarts and Shane Lyons, Amber and Cody Lundholm, Katie Engelbarts, Sarah Gschwend, Megan Gschwend, Aaron Gschwend, Jaxon Shook, Leighton Shook; great-grandchildren: Addison, Kinely, Joey, Thomas, Xavier, Miah. I never got to meet Grace face to face but I felt like I knew her from her daughter Kelly. I know she was very loved and she loved her kids and grandkids. She use to send extra food with Kelly to share with me during our lunch hour. She always kept me feed. I wish I would have met her but I will never forget her and all of her kindness she showed to others and myself. I know she will be missed by her family. Rest in peace sweet lady.
