Eileen Marie (Tisdale) DeFord (1949 - 2018)

Eileen Marie DeFord (Tisdale), 69, of Lakewood Washington passed away suddenly on August 6, 2018 at Madigan Army Medical Center located on Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. Eileen was born on April 1, 1949 in Port Angeles, Washington to James and Donna Marie Tisdale.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 22 at the Lakewood Elks Lodge, located at 6313 75th Street West, at 11 am.

Eileen grew up and graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1967. After graduating, she moved to Tacoma where she worked as a licensed beautician and later became a dietitian at Puget Sound Hospital in the early 1970s. Throughout her life, Eileen held multiple jobs that allowed her to interact and meet new people. Her love of meeting and engaging with others led to her final career before retirement as the Campus Concierge at Pacific Lutheran University in 2009 where she was named the Voice of the Lutes.

Eileen met Rick DeFord on New Year's Eve 1974, and they were married on February 5, 1977 in Roy, Washington. In 1980, Eileen and Rick moved to Lakewood with their two children, Sean and Danielle, to their forever home. Eileen's pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Sweet Eva and Handsome Eli, as she would call them. They could do no wrong in her eyes, and she loved to see them smile.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Rick DeFord, of Lakewood; her son, Sean Carver, of Lakewood; daughter Danielle and son-in-law Zac Bishop, and grandchildren Eva and Eli of Moscow, Idaho; her step-mother JoAnn Martin of Sequim, Washington; brothers Ron and Aaron Tisdale of Sequim; and sisters Debbie Deterding, Darlene Wilcox, and Diane Kellen all of Port Angeles.

Eileen was preceded in death by her mother Donna Marie White, father James Tisdale Sr., brother James Tisdale, Jr., and step-daughter Karen Di Liberti.
