Rachel W. Saltzer Obituary
Rachel W. Saltzer, 83, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away Sunday June 9, 2019, with her loving husband and family by her side. Rachel was born July 11, 1935, in Newville, Cumberland County, the seventh of twelve children of the late Dennie Augusta and Alma Mae (Charlton) Wilson. Rachel loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. While she had been employed by Daylor Real Estate, Rachel focused most of her life on caring for her family; and felt that nurturing them and seeing to their well-being was her highest priority. A faithful Christian, she was a member and Sunday School teacher at the former Harrisburg First Church of God for many years. Rachel was an avid gardener, blessed with a green thumb. The greatest love in Rachel's life was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, William G. Saltzer, and their children, Pamela Getz, Patricia Rinebold, Judith (Bill) Rickard, Julie (James) Myers and Bill (Kate) Saltzer; 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Esther Stubbs, Marvin (Joan) Wilson, Rosalie Hawthorne and Lester Wilson. In addition to her parents, Rachel will be met at Heaven's gate by her siblings, Bertha, Roy, Margaret, Victor and Earl Wilson, Mary Hollabaugh, and Grace Frazier. Her Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday June 17, 2019 at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Residential Hospice, 100 Sterling Parkway, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
