Dale Earl Jones
1936-2013
Dale Earl Jones, age 76, of Milton, FL, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at his residence after a long fought battle with lung cancer. He was born August 25, 1936 in Pratt, KS to the late Earl Jones and Isabelle Hoffman Jones.
Dale served in the United States Marine Corp and was the Director of the Calibration Laboratory in Hawaii, retiring with the Department of Defense after 27 years of service. Dale served three tours in Subic Bay, Philippines between 1967 and 1990. He considered the islands to be his second home. In 1993, Dale was injured in an industrial accident that medically retired him.
Dale loved to hunt, bowl, watch NASCAR and all sports, drag racing, girls softball and coaching his own kids. Dale had a "sweet tooth" for chocolate enjoying chocolate candy, ice cream and hot chocolate. His most pleasant times were spent working in the yard and traveling with his family. In his younger years he also enjoyed a cold beer in the shade while working in his yard with great pride. Dale was the true "Patriarch" of his family, having brought his wife's family over from the Philippines and making sure they were all successful in the United States. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge and also attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Larry & David Jones.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Leticia Jones; two sons, Carl E. (Carol) Jones of Sedgwick, KS and Ismael (Brenda) Jones of Hanford, CA; two daughters, Maria Jones of Milton, FL and Elizabeth Toney of Wichita, KS; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Wehling of Pratt, KS and Betty Hoge of Shawnee Mission, KS.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 2 PM at National Cremation & Burial Society. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, April 27, from 5 until 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice.
